This weeks photo shows how thick the ice can get way up north in the Arctic. This fishing hole will be used to lower nets into the water in order to maximize fish captured. What a different and unique way of life in Iqalugasukvik!

Polar bear season is six months away but we can’t help ourselves with these awesome images of the King of the North. Churchill gets its share of polar bears in the summer months but the real influx and buzz comes in October and November. Andy Attagutalukutuk from Igloolik mushed into his hometown last Thursday night to win his fourth out of the last five Nunavut Quest dog sled races. The race concluded roughly a month after the Hudson Bay Quest was run from Gillam to Churchill.
