Polar bears are congregating in the Churchill area with the polar bear season underway. Three bears are in the Polar Bear Holding Facility at this point and that number should increase as the week goes on. Stay posted to the site to stay current on polar bear numbers in the region.

Another polar bear season has commenced in Churchill and we cannot be more excited to bring you all the news from the great white north. Great White Bear Tours, partner with Natural Habitat Adventures in providing travelers a treasured custom experience, is a leader in polar rover journeys to view polar bears. Owner and fabricator of these amazing vehicles, Don Walkoski, captured these two polar bear images recently out in the Churchill Wildlife Management Area. What a contrast of two worlds, one without and one with the snow that will blanket the region until spring comes. In the next six weeks, we will bring you the news and photo highlights from Churchill!

The sky is a predominant, prevailing feature in these windows into the desolate yet magnificent world of Arctic life. We must cherish these glimpses into life in this region. No place on Earth can compare to the rawness of the north country...we continue to be blown away by the stark beauty!

A lounging polar bear plays with some kelp on the Precambrian shield by the Hudson Bay in Churchill. Bears are patiently waiting for the fall polar bear season when the Hudson Bay will slowly freeze-up and seal hunting season will begin!
