After two days of snow and cloudy skies in Churchill, Natural Habitat Adventures group was blessed with clear weather and the northern lights gleamed through for some spectacular views and photography experiences. These shots by guide Alex De Vries -Magnifico, a frequent contributor to the blog, are some of the early season images we were hoping for. It’s always good to get early season aurora and ride the wave from there! we’re just getting started so stay tuned for more exciting news and photos from Churchill!

Northern lights in Churchill continue through the summer and into fall. Katie de Meulles captured this image last night with the lights of Churchill in the background. With polar bear season just around the corner, travelers to Churchill will be eager to catch a glimpse of lights while tracking polar bears out on the tundra. Looking like a phenomenal season ahead with many polar bears and great aurora action skyward!

Alex DeVries – Magnifico’s unique look at the Ithaca shipwreck and Miss Piggy are exceptional creative images. Although these have been extensively photographed over the years, these perspectives and darkness give them a completely different feel. The northern lights also are are amazing as they have been all month in Churchill. Northern lights season is coming to an end with aurora continuing to shine in the Churchill skies.

I was going to do a wrap – up on the Hudson Bay Quest but just couldn’t resist sending these along to everyone. These photographs of incredible northern lights by Natural Habitat’s Alex De Vries – Magnifico are magnificent!
The increased solar flaring last night is supposed to continue over the next few days so keep looking up. If the sky is clear, the southern part of Canada as well as some regions of the United States should get a glimpse of the aurora.

The Natural Habitat Aurora pod has landed in Churchill and initial reviews have been phenomenal.The town is buzzing with the addition of an amazing new viewing concept for northern lights season in the area. These photos are just a small look at the aurora pod’s infant stages. The aurora continues to be very impressive and the hope is it will continue for the duration of the season.
