Travel Manitoba Releases New Promotional Videos – Northern Lights

Travel Manitoba recently released new videos promoting tourism to the province. This northern lights footage comes from Churchill and even features Natural Habitat Adventures’ Aurora Pod. It’s not too early to start thinking about a trip to Churchill next January, February or March to see the incredible northern lights and the magical frontier town on the Hudson Bay shores. The adventure is waiting for you!

Churchill Video – Arctic Wolves Chase Arctic Hare

Hold your breath and hope for the best for this Arctic hare as these wolves pursue him at high speed. This is survival of the fittest in the purest sense. Another interesting fact about Arctic Hares, that I used to teach travelers to Churchill working as a guide for Natural Habitat Adventures, is that their black – tipped ears are a distraction and target for raptor predators. The birds focus on the spots and attempt to grab the hare by those dark natural targets instead of the neck or fleshy body. Since they are moving and thinner, they are hard to grab on to. These creatures are quite adapted to the Arctic environment!

Aurora Focus Returns to Churchill

After what seems like weeks of blizzard news from Churchill, the main focus of this time of year has returned with some exquisite and intriguing northern lights images from Natural Habitat Adventures guide Drew Hamilton. Drew and his travelers ventured out on the ice pack of Bird Cove just outside of town to the wreck of the MV Ithaca. This favorite pilgrimage destination allows for incredible photos that highlight the waves of aurora borealis over the frozen Hudson Bay. Enjoy these cool pics and look for more northern lights posts and less snow news! Enjoy.
