Churchill’s prime polar bear season is “barely” a month away and polar bears are already congregating in the region around this hearty frontier town on the rocky shores of the Hudson Bay. Here are some recent photo’s from Churchillian Jodi Grosbrink…soon the landscape will take on a quite different look. Winter is lurking to the north. Keep up with all the action in and around Churchill this October/November with our daily postings from the area. Natural Habitat Adventures guides will be supplying fresh video of amazing polar bear behavior as well as other incredible scenes from the north. Should be another exciting season!
Great pictures! I will be following your page throughout the season and beyond. I came to Churchill may years ago and I would love to come back one day for another visit. It was a most interesting trip. I’m excited to see your upcoming photographs.
Thanks Jo Anne…appreciate the insight and following!
46 Days and Counting till we head for the Tundra Lodge! Thank you, thank you for this amazing blog to keep us up to date on the happenings in Churchill.

Kathy,
You will have an amazing time out there…follow the blog and video clips from Churchill this season.
I cannot wait to get there!!!!!!
I would love an update on the ice/snow/bears
we are coming over on 17th -23 October
Bears are in the area..no snow yet…ice will not come until November.
Any idea how close we’ll get to the polar bears on this months trip?? I want to purchase the appropriate lenses for my camera?? thanks.
On the tundra rovers you will have varied distances from close to coastal bears to ones in the willows and rocks …a range of lenses is recommended to be sure to get the shots…lots of opportunities.
I am on Nov trip and I am wondering if ice forming and bears starting to move out on ice already. If that is/starts happening how much does it affect bear sightings from tundra buggies?
You still have plenty of time to see polar bears…have a great time in Churchill!
I’m following this page as I’m so jealous of all of you waiting to out to Churchill. Went with Nathab last November and had a wonderful experience. Check out CHURCHILL POLAR BEARS 2012 on Youtube (viewable via a PC only) for a brief review of our trip from 12 months ago and for a preview of what you can expect and how close you can get to the bears.
