The Metis Heritage Hall in Churchill burned to the ground early this morning. All was lost in the fire including a vast collection of art and historical artifacts. The loss is truly devastating. Mrtyle de Meulles had stored her large collection of Metis artifacts used in her cultural talks and presentations. Unfortunately many of these items are irreplaceable. Our thoughts and prayers are with the people of Churchill and their terrible loss.

I’m so saddened to learn this. My heart goes out to all the people in Churchill and to Myrtle herself for her loss. Oh, so many artifacts gone 🙁
I agree this is sad…hopefully they will rebuild and get a new start!
Saddened for your loss and also for Myrtles collection.
So sad to read about the fire.
Such a tragic loss of irreplaceable art and artifacts… So very sad
It is so, so sad the collection was amazing. My heart goes out to Myrtle and the people of Churchill
This is a very sad time for my Mother my family and the people of Churchill . Myrtle my mother has put her whole life’s work into the Heritage hall. It saddens greatly to see my mom in so much pain. If anyone wants to donate to the Metis heritage collection. To get the hall up and running again . It would be with great love and appreciation to do so. As allot of the artifacts are non replaceable. Thank you from a saddened daughter Desiree deMeulles.
